FREE TRANSFORM
Selected by InNoPO, FREE TRANSFORM brings together works that articulate a sense of freedom through the transformation of pre-existing materials. Appropriating technologies of control - instruction, ownership, ideology – FREE TRANSFORM responds to hacktivist tendencies informed by coding cultures. Siusoon (HK) reveals the controversial relationship between technology and information through translation of mobile news data, Chris Saunders (UK) questions the politics of proprietary software with a free operating system, which provides a complete set of tools for digital production, Helen Pritchard (UK) explores the interpretation of instructional language and systems-based art in a collaborative piece with the Sound House Brass band, and InNoPO (HK|UK|GRE) present an experiment in curatorial practice with a series of new works developed in response to a single audio source.
