Rin Yamamura
Rin Yamamura (Japan) is an artist working with illustrations, graphics, animation, indoor-outdoor installation, puppet art, stage design, and a baby… She lives in Bulgaria since 2001. In 2006 she graduated from the Puppet Theatre Art at NATFA, Sofia (The National Academy for Theatre and Film Art) with a speciality of Stage Design, in the class of prof. Maia Petrova. During her study she got a two-year scholarship of the Program for Young Japanese artists’ development of the Japanese Ministry of Culture. During her students years she participated in the art-group“Via Pontica” and created street performances and installations that had been presented at theatre festivals in Bulgaria and Europe. At that time she made the Christmas showcase installations at the French Culture Institute in Sofia. Her début as a stage designer is with the puppet play “Carlson” by theatre “SHTE” – the play is a winner of the theatre award IKAR 2005 in Bulgaria.  Rin Yamamura graduated with a project called “The Dinner” - object theatre made in collaboration with Nedko Zhechev. With this project they participate in various international festivals - “Juste pour rire” in Montreal, “Shasspierre” “Chiny” “Saltimbanque” in Belgium, “Gravity Free Art 3” in Sofia, and also have a month visit and tour in Japan, together with the puppet play “Carlson”. In 2008 “Janet 45” publishing house published her first author book – “Alphabet of Love”, which is a winner of the National Award for Book Art “Hristo G. Danov” of the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture. In the same year she organized and participated in The Japanese-Bulgarian video art fest at the Academy Gallery, with the kind assistance of the Embassy of Japan in Bulgaria, Sony Bulgaria and National Academy of Art. Later on the same year she created a project for a character of the children’s TV program “Ponkiki” of the BS-Fuji channel in Japan. Her recent endeavours are directed towards creating a bridge between the Japanese and Bulgarian art-zone. Currently Rin Yamamura participates as a stage designer in a new puppet spectacle, directed by Katya Petrova, which is a premiere of Konstantin Iliev’s play “Tsar Shushumiga”.
