NEAR-FAR
The Installation Near-Far is an interactive construction made of a distance detector, projection on canvas of a provocative, but unclear picture, and a corridor. People entering the corridor feel provoked by the projected picture and wish to have a closer look at it. However, the distance detector measures the distance from the picture and the approaching visitor, and sends it to a computer, hidden in a back room. The computer scales the image down:
smaller distance – smaller image
zero distance – zero image.
Notes:
1. Distance changes but the picture remains constant for the observer.
2. While shrinking, the picture is never the same: it loses resolution and content.
3. This artwork disappoints people's expectations for sensation and voyeurism.
